NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — Police say one of three young girls who were struck by a vehicle in a North Las Vegas crosswalk has died of her injuries, while another remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
North Las Vegas Police Officer Chrissie Coon declined to say which girl died at University Medical Center in Las Vegas. She says the other is in “very critical” condition.
Police say the three girls, aged 5 and 6, were struck about 6:45 p.m. Friday while crossing Camino Eldorado.
They were with two 13-year-old girls who avoided being struck by the vehicle driven by a 78-year-old woman.
The boulevard has a posted speed limit of 35 mph.
Police say other vehicles stopped for the group of girls crossing the road, but the elderly motorist said she didn’t see them.
