Pill Disposal Boxes Installed By Henderson Police
HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Henderson police have installed bright yellow prescription pill drop-off boxes at five departmental locations to give people a no-questions-asked way to dispose of drugs.
Department officials say the idea is to allow residents to get rid of unwanted or expired prescriptions in a secure, legal and anonymous way.
They say the goal is to keep the drugs away from those who might abuse them and prevent them from being flushed into the water system and Lake Mead.
Prescription drug drop boxes are in the lobbies of the three Henderson police stations, the Henderson city jail and the community relations office inside the Galleria at Sunset shopping center.
Pills should be in a container or bag, not loose.
Officials ask people not to put needles, syringes, liquids, powders in the boxes.
