LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities are paying extra attention to a weekend rally that is expected to attract thousands of motorcyclists to Las Vegas one week after a fatal shooting of a Hells Angels chapter president marred a similar event in Northern Nevada.
Officer Laura Meltzer said Friday that Metro Police planned extra patrols around Las Vegas BikeFest 2011 events.
The schedule includes a motorcycle expo at the Cashman Center convention hall, musical entertainment at the downtown Fremont Street Experience casino mall, sport bike stunt shows and “poker run” tours of surrounding areas.
A 53-year-old man identified as a Vagos biker club member was arrested Thursday in San Francisco in the Sept. 23 slaying of the rival Hells Angels chapter chief from San Jose, Calif., at John Ascuaga’s Nugget casino in Sparks.
