(Las Vegas) – Leaders from Clark County and several local cities have joined forces to launch a new emergency alert website for Southern Nevada residents.  The site allows anyone to register for emergency alerts across all of Clark County on their home phone, cell phone, via text message or e-mail.  Las Vegas Emergency Management Director Carolyn Levering says the new system will complement, and not replace, existing emergency alert procedures, including announcements on radio and TV, and reverse 9-1-1 calls.  The service will alert people to emergency information on incidents such as major fires, floods, explosions, road closures, mass evacuations, or even severe weather alerts.  Joining Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman for the announcement at City Hall were Henderson Mayor Andy Hafen, North Las Vegas Mayor Shari Buck, and Clark County Commission Chair Susan Brager, among others.  Mayor Goodman urged residents to sign up, saying the system will only work if people actually participate and register.  And the best part, added North Las Vegas Emergency Coordinator Dan Lake, “it’s free.”  The website is https://sonevada.onthealert.com/
