Las Vegas – This years battle for the cannon on October 8 between UNLV and Nevada, Reno will be televised live in Southern Nevada on Cox Cable Channel 96, UNLV Athletics and IMG College announced Thursday. The annual Battle for the Fremont Cannon will kick off at 4 p.m. PT at Mackay Stadium in Reno.

The game will be shown using an independent production company. Former Rebel football radio announcer and current Pittsburgh Pirates play-by-play man Tim Neverett will call the action along with 10-year NFL veteran linebacker Brant Boyer serving as analyst.

This year’s game will be the last one played by the schools as non-conference rivals as the Wolf Pack join the Rebels in the Mountain West in 2012. The game was also the final one on UNLV’s schedule this fall that was not already slated for television.
