Bagpipers lead the march into a special memorial service on the grounds of the Metro Police Academy. A special honor guard from most all area law enforcement agencies and fire services also took part.

Those gathered for this annual observance heard remarks from Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, Senator Dean Heller and the fire chiefs of Las Vegas, Clark County and Henderson.  Senator Dean Heller tells KXNT News that it’s not a question of luck, he says we are safer today than we were ten years ago. Mayor Carolyn Goodman tells KXNT News after spending time in special FEMA training she is more convinced than ever that are first responders are superbly trained.  Sheriff Doug Gillespie tells KXNT News he has no doubt his officer’s will put themselves in harms way if necessary to protect the citizens of Las Vegas and Clark County.
