(Las Vegas, NV) — The parents of 15-year-old Alyssa Otremba say a private funeral will be held for their daughter this weekend. The Arbor View High student’s burned body was found last Saturday near her northwest valley home. The suspect, 19-year-old Javier Righetti, faces a preliminary hearing October 14th. He’s being held without bail. Police say Righetti has admitted to the crime, and claims to have committed a second rape and robbery. Detectives are still investigating.
Northwest valley parents are calling for a drainage tunnel to be closed off. The tunnel is located near the area where 15-year-old Alyssa Otremba’s body was discovered. Police say the teen was not attacked in the tunnel, but students at Arbor View High use it as shortcut. Las Vegas Councilman Steve Ross, who represents the district, says he’ll talk to officials about the tunnel next Tuesday.
