Rod Stewart is bringing his extensive catalog to the Vegas stage. The veteran rocker is launching his two-year residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace tonight. For “The Hits,” Rod says he’s packing his shows with the songs his fans want to hear, and his sets will feature a mix of classics like “Maggie May,” “You Wear it Well,” and “You’re in My Heart,” with a variety of cover tunes and other surprises. But fans hoping to hear material from his “Great American Songbook” series might be disappointed. While it’s possible he’ll toss in a few pop standards, “The Hits” is expected to focus primarily on Stewart’s rock and R&B songs.
Discussing his residency in a recent Billboard.com interview Rod said he’d be staging “a good rock show” with minimal theatrics and an emphasis on the music. Stewart has shows booked throughout August, September, and November. Details are available at his website.
