(Las Vegas, NV) — A woman who claimed University Medical Center’s emergency room workers didn’t treat her when she went into labor has won a settlement. The “Review-Journal” says officials at the county-run hospital have agreed to pay Roshunda Abney 225-thousand dollars for the 2009 incident. Abney filed a federal lawsuit, claiming she waited for six hours without being treated at UMC. She gave birth to a girl a day later, but the baby died. Abney also sued nearby Valley Hospital for a similar allegation. A trial in that case is set to begin next week.
