(Las Vegas, NV) — Talks between the Clark County School District and the teachers’ union have broken down. The Clark County
Educators Association declared an impasse last night over concessions, which include freezing step increases, and having members pay part of a retirement rate hike. The issue could go to arbitration, where a mediator would make the final call. The school district warns without union concessions, it would have to lay off about 800 employees.
CCSD Trustee President, Carolyn Edwards tells KXNT the school year will begin as scheduled, August 29th.
