LAS VEGAS (AP) — All five southbound lanes of Interstate 15 are open after a gasoline tanker crash closed several miles of the busy thoroughfare for much of Wednesday.
State transportation reopened the road after workers applied temporary sealants to a patch of the freeway that was scorched when a tanker carrying 9,100 gallons of gasoline overturned around 4 a.m. and exploded into flames.
Spilled gasoline burned on Interstate 15 near Lake Mead Boulevard for about two hours.
The truck driver escaped unharmed.
Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the incident and has not yet released the driver’s identity.
Authorities urge motorists to drive carefully over the burned patch. They plan to complete emergency repairs next week.
