LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police are identifying a man who was injured after Las Vegas officers shot him during a domestic violence call.
Police responded to a report Monday afternoon that 36-year-old Allen Stout was trying to strangle his ex-girlfriend at an apartment complex in northwest Las Vegas.
Stout left the scene before officers arrived, but officials say he returned to the complex around 5 p.m. and was trying to enter another unit.
Officers say Stout was carrying a handgun but refused to drop the weapon. One officer fired a shot in the man’s abdomen.
He was taken to University Medical Center for treatment.
Las Vegas police say this is the 13th officer-involved shooting this year. The officer is on paid administrative leave and will be identified in the next three days.
