Clark County Family Services Chief Resigns

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The director of a Clark County agency that oversees foster care placements, adoptions and child abuse complaints is giving his two weeks’ notice.

Thomas Morton submitted his resignation on Monday. It will take effect Aug. 19.

County spokesman Erik Pappa says the reasons for the resignation were not clear, and county auhorities have not selected Morton’s replacement. Morton was not available for comment.

Morton has led the county department of family services since May 2006. The agency has a budget of $110 million and handles about 700 child abuse complaints each month.
