The suspects captured by L.V.M.P.D. Patrol Officers following a bank robbery late Thursday afternoon have now been linked to two other similar crimes in as many days.
Patrick Montalvo, 19 years of age and Darren Dillingham, 25 years of age, both from Southern California, were taken into custody minutes after the attempted robbery of a bank located in the 500 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South.
Montalvo and Dillingham arrived in Las Vegas by bus on Tuesday, August 2, 2011. At the time of the latest robbery they had already been developed as suspects in the August 3, 2011 robbery of a bank located in the 3000 block of West Russell Road, and a second bank robbery which occurred in the 2500 block of South Maryland Parkway earlier Thursday.
Both suspects are being charged with: Federal Bank Robbery, three counts.
In all three robberies one of the suspects entered the bank and passed a note demanding money to a bank employee. In at least two of the robberies the suspect indicated he had a firearm.
Members of the FBI Las Vegas Safe Street Task Force had rapidly distributed information concerning the first two crimes to all Southern Nevada Law Enforcement Agencies and to the public. Awareness of this criminal activity had increased law enforcement vigilance surrounding area banks, which aided in the rapid location and capture of the suspects.
The FBI Las Vegas Safe Street Task Force is comprised of Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the North Las Vegas Police Department and Agents from the FBI.
