Coroner Id’s Hiker Who Fell On Mt. Charleston
MOUNT CHARLESTON, Nev. (AP) — The Clark County coroner is identifying a young man who fell to his death while hiking on Mount Charleston near Las Vegas.
Officials say 19-year-old Taylor C. Allgeier of Las Vegas has died after the Thursday morning accident in an area known as Big Falls.
The coroner’s office has not released an official cause of death.
Police say rescuers responded to a 911 call that a hiker had fell an estimated 60 feet.
Las Vegas police spokesman Bill Cassell says authorities recovering the body also used a helicopter in an effort to rescue a hiker who was with Allgeier and was stranded on a cliff.
Mount Charleston is in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest about an hour northwest of Las Vegas.
