(Las Vegas, NV)  — Sheriff Doug Gillespie is defending a $1.5 million settlement for a man who was wrongly convicted of robbery and kidnaping.  The payment was approved yesterday for 28-year-old Dwayne Jackson, who served nearly three years behind bars when DNA results linked him to the 2001 crime.  Last October, it was learned a lab technician mixed up the DNA samples, and the one used to convict Jackson was that of his cousin.  Gillespie vows Metro Police will “do everything in our power to make sure this does not happen again.”
