Crash Causes 37th Traffic Related Fatality

LAS VEGAS (CBS) – An early morning crash near a popular Las Vegas night spot has claimed the life of one pedestrian while leaving another in serious condition.

The accident occurred at about 5 a.m. at the intersection of Naples and Paradise, a bar and nightclub destination commonly referred to as the “fruit loop.”  According to police, two pedestrians were crossing Naples outside of a marked crosswalk, when a car driven by 24-year-old Jason Glover stuck both persons.

One pedestrian was transported to UMC where he was pronounced dead. The second victim, a 41-year-old female, was transported to Sunrise Trauma Center where she was listed in serious condition.

Glover failed field sobriety tests at the scene and was arrested for DUI.

This was the 37th traffic related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction in 2011. The collision remains under investigation.

Oh prison is gonna suck for this silly kid…

It’s ashame, in actuality, two people have lost their lives. A wonderful friend and charming friend to a lot of people, and the stupid drunk driver. When will people learn not to drink and drive. Is it when they lose someone dear to them? What will be the factor to stop a person from driving drunk? So many people are in pain from this tradegy. May God give strenth and healing to both families and friends

is not always the drivers fault, pedestrians need to careful and use the crosswalk

I know both the driver and the victim. I can honestly say both of them are amazing people. This incident is a tragedy. Jason is one of our best friends. I met kalvin when he first moved here. He was a very positive guy. Jason is amazing too. I know that we always tell eachother not to drink and drive. And by 5am I think he was waiting off what he had drank. I would be surprised if his BAC (blood alcohol content) is actually over the legal limit. And from the way it was explained to me by the passenger, the really did seem to come out of nowhere. Im sad all this happened. Sad for kalvin and his friend. Sad for Jason. Sad for our LGBT community. Jason may have failed a field sobriety test but after hitting 2 ppl I would think its hard to pass any test. This is horrible all around.

I agree with you Cody, this is a tragic accident and there’s no fault on Jason’s part.all I can say is that my prayers are with both Jason and Kalvin as wells as their families. and to Bridget and Charles do not judge ppl without even knowing who in the world will pass a sobriety test after hitting 2 ppl , think about it? DON’T BE JUDGMENTAL
