Visitor Volume Up; More Coming By Air
LAS VEGAS (AP) — For the sixth straight month, McCarran International Airport is reporting an increase in passenger traffic compared with a year ago.
Airport officials reported Monday that nearly 3.6 million people passed through the Las Vegas facility in June. That was up 5.6 percent from June 2010.
Airport spokeswoman Elaine Sanchez noted increases in visitor demand and airline seats. She says more visitors are arriving by air.
The tally raised the overall passenger total to 20.3 million during the first six months of the year — up 3.8 percent from the 19.6 million who passed through the airport in the first half of 2010.
Southwest, American, US Airways and Continental all reported handling more passengers in June than a year earlier. Delta handled slightly fewer passengers.
