NORTH LAS VEGAS (CBS) – For the first time, the public is seeing dramatic video of a shooting rampage that took place in North Las Vegas. Carlos Barron, a local middle school teacher, is charged with attempted murder after allegedly opening fire on a camera crew from the reality TV show “Repo Games”.
The production crew was filming an episode of the show in April on Vigilante Court near Centennial Parkway and Losee Road. Contestants Damon and Caryn Nelson had just saved their SUV from repossession, when pandemonium began. The crew’s cameras captured the incident.
Police say the angry neighbor is Carlos Barron, who was a teacher at J.D. Smith Elementary School at the time. Police say Barron became angry about the production crew’s van parked in front of his home.
The Clark County School District says Barron is no longer an employee. He pleaded not guilty to his criminal charges, which include attempted murder. He’s out on bail, and a trial date has been set for August 8.
