Heller: “No Budget, No Salary”
(Washington, DC) — Senator Dean Heller has introduced an amendment that would keep lawmakers from getting their paychecks if they don’t take action on a federal budget. The Nevada Republican says the “No Budget, No Salary” measure would prevent House and Senate members from being paid, if they fail to pass a budget resolution by the beginning of any fiscal year. It would also ban retroactive pay.
Heller says the public doesn’t want to see elected officials avoid budget votes “for political reasons,” and urges his amendment be brought to the Senate floor for an up-or-down vote.
