Vegas Strip Traffic Snarled After Trench Fails
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas Strip vehicle traffic will be snarled through the weekend while crews repair a construction trench collapse.
Officials say they weren’t aware of any injuries after the walls of a 6-by-10-foot ditch for laying steel pipes collapsed mid-morning Friday.
That created a 10-by-25-foot hole at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Spring Mountain Road.
The site is near the Venetian and Wynn casino resorts and the Fashion Show Mall shopping center.
Clark County spokesman Erik Pappa says repair work is expected to continue at least until Sunday morning.
Las Vegas Boulevard will have one lane open north and south instead of three.
Spring Mountain Road will have one eastbound lane and two westbound lanes open.
