More Sparks Will Fly At Las Vegas’ NYE Party

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas is adding some more flash to its New Year’s Eve party this year.

Tourism officials announced Thursday that an annual fireworks show on the Las Vegas Strip is expanding.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority says revelers will now be able to watch fireworks fired from eight rooftop locations instead of seven.

The Tropicana Las Vegas will be joining the fireworks display traditionally held at the MGM Grand, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Caesars Palace, Treasure Island, The Venetian and the Stratosphere hotel-casino.

An estimated 320,000 visitors flocked to Las Vegas for the New Year’s Eve celebration that kicked off 2011.
