Nearly 50 UNLV professors won’t be teaching classes this fall. The tenured instructors agreed to a buyout that officials say will save more jobs. The professors were offered one-and-half times their annual salaries to step down. The “Review-Journal” says UNLV will pay out more than seven-million dollars, but the university is expected to save nearly five-million dollars in salaries this fiscal year. It comes as the Vegas campus faces a 20-million-dollar reduction in state funding.
