‘Dr. Reefer’ Pleads Guilty To Drug Charge In Vegas
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas man who went by the name “Dr. Reefer” is facing prison time after pleading guilty to selling marijuana.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Pierre Werner entered the plea Thursday under a deal that would keep his family out of prison.
Under the plea bargain, Werner’s mother, Reynalda Barnett, and his younger brother, Clyde Barnett, also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
They have a chance to receive probation.
But Werner is expected to return to prison because he has a prior drug record.
A sentencing date has been set for Oct. 18.
Federal authorities charged 15 people with selling marijuana in Las Vegas in January, including Werner and his family.
Growing medical marijuana for personal use is legal in Nevada, but selling it is illegal.
