LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 25-year-old facing a murder charge says he acted in self-defense when he fatally stabbed a man on the Las Vegas Strip.
Victor Quijano is scheduled to appear in court Friday morning in Las Vegas.
Police said Quijano began arguing with 22-year-old Steven Velasquez and 21-year-old Andres Elena at the Planet Hollywood casino-resort after Velasquez commented on a woman in Quijano’s group.
Security removed both groups from the property, but they soon ran into each other on a nearby pedestrian bridge connected to MGM Grand.
Velasquez allegedly attacked one of Quijano’s friends, prompting Quijano to retrieve a knife from his pocket and use it.
Velasquez and Elena were taken to a local hospital, where Elena died.
