Union Seeks to Block Inquest Process
(Las Vegas, NV) — A lawsuit has been filed to block last December’s changes in the coroner’s inquest process. The suit by the Police Protective Association claims the use of an ombudsman to represent the victim’s family is unconstitutional and unfair to officers.
The PPA wants to block the scheduled July 12th inquest into last November’s shooting death of Benjamin Bowman by three Metro Police officers at a local bar. It’s the first inquest under the new rules approved by county commissioners.
