Firefighters Battle Big Blaze

(North Las Vegas, NV)  —  A two-alarm fire at a North Las Vegas recycling plant resulted in $2 million worth of damage.  Authorities say it broke out just before 7pm last night at the Republic Services facility on West Gowan.

Flames 50-feet high were spotted when crews arrived.  The fire was put out in about a half-hour, and no one was hurt.  Smoke from the large bundles of plastic could be seen as far away as Henderson.  Forty-five firefighters were needed to battle the fire, which was blamed on improper disposal of smoking materials.
