(Washington, DC)  —  A bill renewing contracts for states and cities that get their electricity from Hoover Dam moved forward yesterday.  The House Natural Resources Committee approved the measure that would extend the agreements for buyers in Nevada, Arizona and California through the year 2067.  Current contracts are set to end in 2017.

The measure also sets aside electricity from the dam to Indian tribes, irrigation districts and rural cooperatives.
