LAS VEGAS (AP) — North Las Vegas is eliminating 83 jobs from its police department.
City officials announced Wednesday that the cash-strapped City Council could lay off more than 250 employees as its tries to close a $30.3 million budget gap.
The Las Vegas Sun reports that the city expects to save $9.2 million by eliminating dozens of police department employees, including 17 police officers, three police supervisors, 21 detention officers and two detention supervisors.
Some of the positions being eliminated are vacant.
