NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — The North Las Vegas City Council is debating whether to order a new election for a council race after an invalid ballot was found during a recount. Clark County Registrar of Voters Larry Lomax says a voter who was not eligible to cast a ballot in last week’s election was allowed to do so, casting doubt on the contest results. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that officials don’t know whether the ineligible vote was for apparent winner Wade Wagner or City Council member Richard Cherchio. Wagner had 1,831 votes in the election. Cherchio drew 1,830 votes in unofficial results. The City Council will decide Wednesday whether to certify the election results or order a new election. Mayor Shari Buck endorsed Wagner during the election, while several council members supported Cherchio.
