(North Las Vegas, NV) — About 40 North Las Vegas firefighters have been given pink slips in an effort to balance the city budget. The firefighter positions are being eliminated under the city’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
North Las Vegas could lay off more than 250 city employees to help eliminate a budget shortfall of more than $30 million. But the actual number could be less if unions agree on concessions. City officials say the layoffs won’t compromise public safety.
