LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas man could face charges of impersonating a police officer and violating probation after he used a hotel security badge to stop a motorist.

Las Vegas police said 37-year-old Eric James Lacasse was arrested Thursday after he ordered a motorist to stop driving.

The motorist became suspicious of Lacasse and flagged down an officer driving a marked patrol vehicle.

Lacasse was on probation for an unrelated charge of battery on a police officer.

Police say all unmarked police vehicles feature distinct sirens and lights.

Plain clothes officers will have both a badge and a department issued identification card.
