Attorneys for an illegal immigrant convicted of a 2006 Halloween explosion outside a Las Vegas Home Depot say they’re planning to appeal.

Porfirio Duarte-Herrera was already serving a life in prison sentence for killing a man with a pipe bomb outside Las Vegas’ Luxor casino in 2007 when he was found guilty this week of attempted murder, bomb making, bomb possession and destruction of property.

Defense lawyers say Duarte-Herrera maintains his innocence

Prosecutor Dave Stanton tells The Associated Press the Halloween blast whipped shards of metal over a wide area. He says it was, “incredibly lucky no one was injured or killed.”

Sentencing is set for June 21.
