CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Tea party-backed Sharron Angle has taken herself out of the running for Nevada’s U.S. House special election.
In a statement, Angles says a court ruling that says major political parties must pick their candidate for the Sept. 13 ballot makes a mockery of free elections. While the court ruling is under appeal, a decision by the Nevada Supreme Court isn’t expected until late June at the earliest.
Angle’s statement was vague on her future plans, but says she hasn’t ruled out a future run for office.
Her withdrawal Wednesday came the on the first day of candidate filling for Nevada’s upcoming special election to fill an open U.S. House seat.
