Nevada Student To Compete In Geographic Bee
A 13 year old from Las Vegas is representing Nevada in the annual National Geographic Bee. Asimwe Oben-Nyarko is an eighth-grader at Schofield Middle School in Las Vegas. He will compete in the 2011 competition held in Washington from May 24 through May 25. Students in grades four through eight compete in the National Geographic Bee. Contestants are asked about state capitols, international borders and geologic features. The first-place prize is a $25,000 college scholarship and a trip to the Galápagos Islands. Contest officials say Oben-Nyarko plays the cello and dreams of becoming the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
