LAS VEGAS (AP) — Only a few days after Sen. Dean Heller was sworn into office, the Nevada Republican is meeting with national leaders in Washington for a fundraiser benefiting his 2012 Senate campaign.

Heller will attend a reception in his honor at the National Republican Senatorial Committee office on Wednesday night.

Contributions range from $5,000 to $500 for individual donors.

Former Nevada Congressman Jon Porter is co-hosting the event.

Heller was sworn in Monday to replace Republican Sen. John Ensign. Ensign resigned after admitting to an extramarital affair.

Democratic Congresswoman Shelley Berkley is running against Heller in 2012.
