Drunk Driver Sentenced In Student’s Death
LAS VEGAS – He was found responsible for killing 18 year old UNLV student Lindsay Bennett back in April of 2009. He was drunk at the time of the crash, on the 215 near Windmill Lane, with two times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood, according to court documents. Today a county judge gave the driver, Ukrainian-born Vladimir Lagerev, the maximum sentence.
Lagerev received 8 to 20 years in prison.
Bennett had danced with the Rebel Girls at basketball games, and was driving home from the Thomas & Mack Center that night back in 2009.
Lindsay’s parents were in the courtroom, and made impact statements about the loss of their daughter, before Lagerev was sentenced.
In addition to the time he must serve, Lagerev faces around $25,000 in fines.
