LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a gunman was being sought after a security guard was shot in the leg breaking up an attempted purse-snatching outside a casino off the Las Vegas Strip.

Las Vegas police say the shooting happened about 2:30 a.m. Monday at the Tuscany Hotel & Casino on Flamingo Road.

KVVU reports the guard noticed a scuffle and confronted a man trying to take the vehicle keys and purse from a woman in the parking lot of the casino. The guard was wounded in the thigh and was taken to University Medical Center.

The injury wasn’t described as life-threatening. The woman wasn’t hurt, and the gunman ran away.
