Off-Duty Officer Who Shot Two Men Identified

LAS VEGAS The Clark County School District Police Department has released the name of the officer involved in a shooting on Saturday.

Police say Officer John Evans, III was off duty when he fired his weapon at suspects at a parking lot near Sahara Avenue and Eastern Avenue.

Las Vegas police say Officer Evans was a passenger in a vehicle at a stoplight when he heard gunshots. He got out of the car he was in and started chasing after the alleged suspects from that shooting.

Metro Captain Patrick Neville says the suspect was trying to hop into a dark colored Kia waiting for him in the parking lot of El Pollo Loco. Two people were taken to Sunrise Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Metro police are still looking for more people who were possibly involved.
