(Carson City, NV) — A bill that would eliminate coroner inquests for police-involved shooting deaths is now being considered in the Legislature. It would require the district attorney to investigate deadly incidents involving police officers, and determine whether criminal charges should be filed.

The bill is a response to reforms recently approved by Clark County commissioners, which calls for families to get appointed lawyers during the inquest process.

Some cops say they won’t testify under the new policy.
