(Las Vegas, NV) — The Las Vegas urologist who admitted reusing plastic needle guides has his medical license back. The state Board of Medical Examiners has reinstated Doctor Michael Kaplan’s license, one month after he told authorities he reused the guides in biopsies.
As part of the agreement, Kaplan must perform procedures with a third party in the same room, and will face random inspections. More than 100 of Kaplan’s patients have been notified to get tested for HIV and hepatitis, but there have been no reports of infection.
