CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada lawmakers face another key deadline as week 10 of the 2011 session begins Monday in Carson City.
Teachers and education groups also plan a rally outside the legislative building Monday to show support for education and to protest deep cuts proposed in Gov. Brian Sandoval’s $5.8 billion two-year spending plan.
By the end of Friday, all non-budgetary bills must be passed out of the first committee in the house of origin. If not passed by the committee, they die.
Legislators are under a tight 120-day time limit to complete their work by June 6.
