(Carson City, NV) — A portion of the aging Nevada State Prison has been shut down. The “Nevada Appeal” says the close custody unit, which houses problem-prone inmates at the Carson City facility, closed earlier this week.
The 35 inmates at the unit have been taken to other state facilities. The move comes as Governor Brian Sandoval pushes to close the aging prison in an effort to cut costs. One union official claims the state is trying to close the Carson City prison one step at a time.
