Hampton to Enter Plea
The former aide to Senator John Ensign will enter a plea in federal court this coming Monday. Doug Hampton was indicted last week on charges he lobbied the Senate despite a federal “cooling off” period of one year.
A judge ruled hampton was indigent, and assigned him a public defender. Hampton resigned after learning Ensign was having an affair with his wife. Ensign remains under investigation by a Senate committee, and won’t seek a third term in 2012.
