Early Voting Begins

Early voting is beginning for a Las Vegas municipal primary election to pick the city’s next mayor, three council seats and three judgeships.

Eighteen candidates are vying to replace Mayor Oscar Goodman, and council members Lois Tarkanian and Ricki Barlow face challengers. Councilman Gary Reese isn’t running again due to term limits.

Early voting started Saturday and runs ends April 1 at locations around the city and at the city clerk’s office at City Hall. The primary is April 5.

Early votes could decide the winners if one candidate receives a majority of votes.

Otherwise, the top two vote-getters will face off in the general election June 7.
