(Las Vegas, NV) — Clark County School District officials heard an earful from the public about the education budget and possible cuts last night. At four meetings around the Vegas Valley, parents and staffers had their say on a potential budget shortfall of up to 400-million dollars.
Some urged an increase in taxes to make up the deficit, while others advocated cuts in certain programs. The school district is considering a number of options, such as increasing class sizes and cuts to various programs such as sports and special education.
School board members will discuss the budget at a special meeting tomorrow afternoon on the Western High School campus.
