Local Japanese Brace For The Worst
Things appear to be going from bad to worse in Japan, where a deadly magnitude 8.9 earthquake struck overnight, triggering a tsunami that washed over the northeast coast of the island nation. It’s now being reported that fire is raging at a nuclear power plant. Dozens are dead and millions are without power. The tsunami is now racing across the ocean towards Hawaii. The entire state is under a tsunami warning with the first wave expected to arrive around 3 a.m. local time, or 8 a.m. Eastern. The West Coast of the United States is also under threat, with a warning in effect for parts of Alaska as well as California and Oregon.
