Teachers and staff at five low-performing schools will have to reapply for their jobs as part of a reorganization plan. Clark County School District officials say they will shake up staff at the schools, using a federal stimulus grant. Hancock Elementary, along with Chaparral and Mojave High Schools, are among the campuses affected. The other two schools have not yet been named. Yesterday, Chaparral students protested the plan, which calls for using seven-million-dollars from a federal grant to replace half of the staff at the southeast valley high school. Other staff members will be able to apply for jobs at other county schools.
