Authorities say 4-year-old girl has died at a hospital where she was being treated for head wounds received while relatives target shot in the desert outside Las Vegas. The Clark County coroner’s office said Tuesday that Dayla Pizzoferrato died.
Details were not immediately made available. Police told the Las Vegas Review-Journal she was critically wounded Sunday afternoon by metal fragments, possibly from a bullet. Police and paramedics responded to an area near Interstate 15 and Las Vegas Boulevard on a family’s report that a girl fell off a truck and injured her head while she was with relatives target shooting in the desert south of Sloan. Police had said the girl was taken to University Medical Center. Detectives were interviewing the girl’s father and grandfather for details about the incident.
