Thousands of high school students are taking the state proficiency exam this week. The four-part test covers math, science, reading and writing. Students must pass all four portions to earn a high school diploma. The proficiency exam is also used to determine a high school’s progress under the federal No Child Left Behind program. To help prepare students for the test, free math tutoring is available at ten public libraries. You can get information on the proficiency exam at ccsd.net.
